James and Jean Bracken established this donor advised fund for their family's charitable giving, allowing them to support of a wide variety of vital programs and projects across our community. This fund will continue the legacy of the Bracken family, who are grateful for the opportunity and life that Winnipeg gave them.

Jim was born in Calgary, AB and Jean in Canora, SK; they met and married in Penticton, BC before Jim’s sales career brought them to Winnipeg in 1962. With a family that included 5 children, Jim and Jean participated in the community through service to various business and philanthropic clubs. They enjoyed the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre, to name a few, and gave to various charitable causes. The James A. and Jean Bracken Fund was created to ensure that their generous giving continues to causes that were near and dear to Mom and Dad.

All gifts to this fund will be pooled and invested with the generated income distributed as grants to local registered charities. As the original gift remains invested, your contribution will continue to benefit our community in perpetuity.
