In 2024 on Red Dress Day (May 5), the Manitoba government announced the creation of an endowment fund that will extend tangible, culturally responsive, trauma-informed support to children and families of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls and two-spirited folks.
The Manitoba Government will work with MMIWG2S+ families, a Matriarch Circle and community partners including Indigenous-led organizations to develop the program, such as grant eligibility and distribution guidelines. Grants are expected to be available sometime in 2025.
